Rhône. He harassed the police and the gendarmerie with 27,000 calls, a man arrested

Some 27,000 phone calls in two months: a 47-year-old man was arrested on Wednesday near Lyon on suspicion of harassing members of the police and the gendarmerie, especially women, report our colleagues from Progress.

Between April 7 and May 18, the man made his calls to 14 police or gendarmerie services in the country, notably making “remarks of a sexual nature to female officials, while sometimes insulting them”. In total, 34 victims were identified.

Known for similar facts

“Very unfavorably known” to justice “for similar facts”, the individual was located in a hotel in Saint-Priest, outside Lyon, where he was arrested early Wednesday morning by the departmental security.

“His judgment was not altered or abolished at the time of the facts”, indicated a psychiatric expertise of the suspect carried out during his custody.

Recognizing his misdeeds while being unable to explain them, the forty-something was to be presented this Friday to the Lyon prosecutor’s office for his judgment in immediate appearance.
