Support Sytral to green Lyon’s public transport network (TCL)

The project Sytral – energy transition of the TCL bus network has been selected by the European Commission and receives € 15.89 million in grants from the call for projects CEF-Transport-Blending Facility for the acquisition of 224 new low-emission vehicles, construction of supply infrastructure and adaptation of depots. The Bank of the Territories is supporting this important project by funding 25 M€ which aims at decarbonization of the public transport network of the Lyon area.

Thus, in particular, between 2021 and 2023 :

  • Lyon’s historic trolleybuses, which run on diesel, will be gradually replaced by 100% electric trolleybus ;
  • Several lines will be equipped with 46 new electric buses battery-powered;
  • 56 buses running on natural gas for vehicles (NGV) will be gradually deployed;
  • An experimental line with 2 hydrogen buses will be implemented.

The Bank of the Territories will provide for this two modes of financing adapted to each technology:

  • Funding from 13 M€ from the platform Bus Proper Obli for the acquisition of 46 electric buses and the adaptation of the depot;
  • a Mobi Loan from 12 M€ for the acquisition of 56 CNG buses.

Develop business premises, local shops and services in Chambéry

Local public company Cristalh survey 7,3 M€ and commits an investment of 24 M€ to achieve acquisitions and / or improvements to businesses in the heart of the city of Chambéry and develop premises for activities, shops and services in Grand Chambéry.

The Bank of the Territories is a shareholder of Cristalh alongside the Caisse d’Epargne Rhône-Alpes, the Grand Chambéry agglomeration and the City of Chambéry. It contributed to the capital increase for 75%, i.e. nearly 5,5 M€ in shares and in advance in shareholders’ current account.

10 M€ will be devoted to commercial revitalization of the city center (27 projects).

14 M€ will be invested in agglomeration programs to develop town center shops, the offer of nursing homes, craft premises and offices (15 projects).

Support the construction and rehabilitation of social housing

The Bank of the Territories subscribed € 5 million in equity securities near Cristalh Habitat and thus reinforces its support for the development of social housing in the agglomeration of Grand Chambéry. With these additional resources, Cristalh Habitat can program in particular the construction of 125 additional new housing units, and continue the rehabilitations of its building stock.
