A modern history professor is suspected of having used money from the University of Neuchâtel (Unine), Switzerland, where he teaches, to finance activities in France.
This professor, Olivier Christin, was president of Lyon 2 University between 2008 and 2009.

The charges against him relate in particular to questionable financing of demonstrations by the European Center for Republican Studies (Cedre), founded by the President of the Republic at the time, François Hollande, the Minister of Education, Najat Vallaud-Belkacem , and his predecessor, Vincent Peillon.
The historian would have, according to Mediapart, produced forgeries, backdated documents in order to obtain funding from the Swiss university. What the former Lyonnais denies: “The management of expenses is ensured by the accounts of the University of Neuchâtel. For SNSF funds (Swiss National Fund, editor’s note), an annual financial report is added. All my reports have been checked and accepted by the SNSF. »
The investigation also reveals that funds from Unine and the National Centers of Competence in Research (NCCR) would have been used to finance a conference at Cedre in Paris, which would have enabled Najat Vallaud-Belkacem, Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes regional councilor , of “to regain a place in the public debate”according to L’Obs.
Contacted by Mediapart and ArcInfo, Unine and NCCR denied any problem.
Médiapart also claims to have repeatedly asked Najat Vallaud-Belkacem, who did not respond.
