The new supersport from Lithuania is designed to be assembled in a home garage, but it looks great at the same time. For less than 860 thousand crowns, it offers almost everything, especially you have to buy “only” the ten-cylinder engine from the Audi R8.
Rhino RR01 is the first Lithuanian supersport, which also brings a new sales and assembly concept. Kits of real cars have been on the market for decades, but they are usually “just” variations in the style of a small Lotus 7. However, Rhino Racing wants to sell a ten-cylinder supersport in this form.
The most surprising thing is its basic price without engine – 35 thousand euros, that is roughly 857 thousand crowns without taxes. It includes an aluminum monocoque, a safety cage, a fiberglass body, fully adjustable trapezoidal suspension, adjustable shock absorbers and a steering wheel with an integrated 4.3″ display. In particular, the engine must be purchased for 37,500 euros (918,000 crowns) without taxes. In total, the whole car should come out to approximately 1.8 million crowns without taxes.
The car is designed for home assembly, which can be done even by a person without extensive technical knowledge. The prototype is powered by the Audi 5.2 FSI V10 engine from the R8 with 480 horsepower. The 10-cylinder, which will be available to customers as well, will be completely rebuilt and will have all-new internal components and a racing control unit. It can be mated to a custom sequential gearbox and limited slip differential.
The story of the creation of this car is also interesting. The founders of Rhino Racing originally only joked about building a car. After half a year, the jokes turned into a serious plan, and after another year and a half they went on the track for the first time. The entire car, including geometry and aerodynamic design, was designed and built in-house, without copying or using foreign parts.
