During the “Rhine Clean Up” campaign, the Rhine, including the tributaries Ruhr and Moselle, is cleared of rubbish from the source to the mouth. The city of Speyer is also involved on Saturday. Around 20 volunteers, armed with garbage bags, gloves and grippers, help remove garbage from the banks of the Rhine near the Rheinhäuser ferry. Cigarette butts are a particular problem.
