In autumn 2019, the municipal council decided on the photovoltaics funding program, through which the municipality had subsidized 68 systems with a total installed capacity of 495.39 kilowatt-peak (kWp). The funding program is to be continued in 2021 and corresponding funds have been entered in the budget.

Due to the success of the program last year, the administration suggested that the Building and Environment Committee lower the amount of funding per applicant so that a larger number of applications can be considered. Lord Mayor Klaus Eberhardt pointed out that the city administration had already received 20 funding applications. So far, a subsidy of 200 euros has been granted per kWp of installed capacity. The funding amount is to be reduced to 150 euros per kWp. Instead of five kWp, only four kWp are to be funded per photovoltaic system, reducing the maximum funding amount from 1000 euros to 600 euros.
Ask about clubs
City councilor Karin Paulsen-Zenke (SPD) asked at the meeting whether clubs could also take advantage of the photovoltaic program. Michael Schwarz from energy management denied that. The funding program only envisages funding projects by private individuals. Eberhardt wanted to put this rule to the test and find out how it is also possible to promote measures by associations, but this requires a separate resolution.
The requests
The building and environment committee decided unanimously on Wednesday to lower the funding rates for the photovoltaic funding program to 150 euros per kWp and the maximum funding to 600 euros, which will continue the funding program in 2021. After approval by the Building and Environment Committee, the funding program will be resumed on April 6th, and with it the application form on the urban website also offered for download again.
