“A good public school education is the best protection against unemployment and social dependency,” writes GEB chairman Frank Grimberg. The backlog of modernization and renovation of the school building in Rheinfelden should be ended, he writes. The Parents’ Advisory Board is aware that due to the tight budget situation, not everything can be implemented immediately. The GEB now wants to formulate a catalog of requirements with mandatory and critical measures for each school. So this was also decided at the first mini-school summit in October. At the invitation of the GEB, 35 participants – schoolchildren, local politicians, parents’ representatives and teachers – discussed existing challenges for schools in Rheinfeld, such as digitization or the space available.
Digitization should be continued
In addition to a breakdown of the measures into duty and Kr, the GEB demands in its open letter: Digitization should be continued consistently, the topic of “social learning” and school social work should be expanded, the idea of a school fund should be investigated and swimming lessons should continue to be offered all year round . In addition, a parents’ summit and a policy summit are to be organized.

With a view to the corona pandemic, the GEB is asking the city to equip classrooms with ventilation devices. The GEB commented separately on the traffic situation in Karsau and Minseln as well as on the spatial situation of the Nollingen lever school, where one wants to switch to containers. The latter was “not solved satisfactorily for either the teachers or the students,” writes the GEB. The separation of the school buildings leads to a high expenditure of time for the teachers. In addition, as an inclusion location, the lever school needs additional space. The GEB therefore calls for “the immediate approach to an integrated approach for the future of the lever school”. Not only do the school buildings have to be looked after, the children should also be “inspired to learn”. Grimberg describes the traffic situation in Karsau as “precarious”. Several requests to improve the quality of the safe way to school have been rejected by the city, such as a zebra crossing or a 30 km / h zone. The GEB demanded that the school authorities look for solutions and take the concerns of the parents seriously. “A purely regulatory and police statement that measures are not necessary does not take the city as a school authority out of responsibility,” said the GEB. The traffic environment of the schools should be redesigned so “that the quality of the safe way to school is not up for discussion.”
