Rheinfelden: Clear positioning of the state against Federal Minister Scheuer – Member of Parliament Josha Frey: “Tunnel for A98 is the best solution for the region”

Shortly before Christmas, the State Ministry of Transport contacted the Federal Ministry of Transport to support the 390 meter long tunnel between Minseln and Karsau favored by the region. The Green Member of Parliament Josha Frey, who has been campaigning for this solution for over 9 years, welcomes the clear positioning of the state towards Federal Minister Scheuer.

“Both in terms of noise pollution for the population and keeping it open as a wildlife corridor are good reasons to choose this solution. Despite the major interventions in the construction and operation of this motorway, its effects could be limited with a tunnel, ”says Josha Frey.

In addition, Ministerialdirektor Lahl made it clear to Federal Minister Scheuer in his letter of December 17, 2020 that, from the state’s point of view, the original plan with a short cover of only 79 meters in length would not be eligible for planning approval.

“I am delighted with the state’s clear stance towards the federal government responsible for building the A98, as it is 100% behind the region. Now the ball is in the hands of the federal government, ”states the Lörrach member of parliament.
