The first game action was by Silvio Heinevetter. After 40 seconds, he saved his first ball after a throw by national player Juri Knorr. The first goal of the Baden-Württemberg derby still belonged to the visitor. New signing Halil Jaganjac made it 1-0 for the home side. In direct reply, Adam Lönn scored the equalizer. It was Jan Forstbauer who scored Stuttgart’s first opener in the fifth minute.
As a result, an open exchange of blows developed. After ten minutes of play it was 5:7, up until then the game had been at eye level. However, the Lions then pulled away, prompting Roi Sánchez to call his first time-out of the game. At this point, TVB was 6:10 behind, the 13th minute of the game was written. Egon Hanusz closed the deficit to 8:11 with his second goal, but Löwen took advantage of two simple mistakes in TVB’s offensive play and scored in the 18th minute to bring the score to 8:13. The visitors confidently kept this lead and in the meantime managed to bring it to seven goals. With the score at 10:17, the Stuttgart manager felt obliged to take his second time-out to find more consistency in the game than TVB. Sascha Pfattheicher then scored his second goal from the right wing. The WILD BOYS also scored from the left wing, Daniel Fernandez with his second goal for 13:18. This 5-goal deficit then carried over into half-time. At 16:21 the players left the field in the direction of the changing rooms.
The second half started as turbulent as the first ended. A save from 7 meters by Silvio Heinevetter in the 32nd minute and a counter-attack by Daniel Fernández allowed the Stuttgart team to close – 18:21. But the Lions showed their strength and quickly increased their lead to five goals, just like at the end of the break. After 30 minutes of play the score was 20:25. The simple mistakes were repeated again and again, so the hosts had a hard time reducing the lead. Indeed, in the meantime the lions have managed to pull off up to ten goals. Goals from Adam Lönn in the 53rd minute or Max Häfner in the 54th minute could no longer contribute to a point. In the end the scoreboard was 30:43.
