This Friday, September 6, at 7:00 p.m., the Teatro Regional de Rancagua will be the stage for the “RG Awards,” an event that seeks to recognize and reward the most outstanding artists, programs and content creators in the O’Higgins region, a day that will be hosted by announcer Rodrigo Peralta of Radio FM Tú.
The initiative, led by singer Rodrigo Gaete, owner of the artistic academy and creator of the awards, together with his partner Caro Castro, co-host of the BrillaGlam program, emerges as a showcase to show local talent.
Along these lines, Gaete explains that the RG Awards were born as a project to motivate and make visible the work of artists from O’Higgins. “It is a recognition for the artists of the region, but also a space where we can share, learn about and enjoy all the art of Rancagua and the O’Higgins region,” he said.
The idea for the awards came about two years ago, while Gaete and Castro were doing a television programme from their art academy where they met many local artists. “We said: ‘How can we motivate kids to continue creating, working, producing?’ That’s how the idea for the RG Awards was born. Today we are putting it into practice, and our goal is to encourage our colleagues and artist friends to continue creating,” said Gaete.
RG AWARDS
The RG Awards feature a wide variety of categories, ranging from media and emerging artists to classical artists. “We are covering the entire O’Higgins region. These awards are from Rancagua and the region to the world,” said Caro Castro.
The event, which has recently closed voting and is in the nomination process, will feature a grand show at the Teatro Regional de Rancagua that will begin with a red carpet at 5:00 p.m., hosted by “La Rb” from Radio Bienvenida and Weisler Torreyes from Cosmopitan Academy; in addition, it will feature the presence of media and artists from all over the region.
“We want the entire industry to be present, not just the nominees. This is an event that we hope to continue holding in the future, to continue making the work of our artists visible,” concluded Gaete.
The RG Awards, which will be televised via YouTube at www.youtube.com/rgawardsoficial, promise to be a celebration of local talent and creativity, consolidating themselves year after year as a space for recognition and support for artists from the O’Higgins region.
