Ukraine’s withdrawal from the Minsk process may lead to an aggravation and protraction of the conflict in Donbass, according to the Russian Foreign Ministry.
Russia allows Ukraine to withdraw from the Minsk agreements, which will lead to a prolongation of the conflict. This was stated by the Deputy Foreign Minister of the Russian Federation Andrei Rudenko, writes TASS Monday, September 20th.
Anything is possible, including withdrawal from the Minsk agreements. But we believe that [это] road to nowhere. A path that can lead to an aggravation of the conflict, to a protraction of this conflict for many years, “he said.
The diplomat also said that the “building up of Ukraine’s military muscles” and receiving support from the West did not contribute to the solution of the conflict.
“We know about these preparations by the military and we know about the assistance that Kiev receives from the United States and other countries … All these things are taken into account in our military planning. We hope that nevertheless reason will prevail in Kiev even before the military scenario, including with regard to Donbass, it will not work, “he concluded.
When asked about the possibility of supplying Ukraine with a missile defense system, the Iron Dome Rudenko urged to wait for specifics, not rumors.
Earlier, the head of the NSDC, Oleksiy Danilov, said that it was time for the Ukrainian authorities to decide what to do with the Minsk agreementsbecause they don’t work.
Prior to this, German Chancellor Angela Merkel described progress towards settlement in Donbass as “negligible”… With her assessment agreed in the Kremlin.
