In the final meeting of Group A of the second stage of the championship in the Salaspils sports house, the women of Rezekne added to their list of victories a victory over FK “Auda” with 3:1 and a triumph over FB “Gulbene”/SK “Kuorsova” with 10:1, ending the decisive stage of the competition with seven victories and one loss. It was the FK “Iecava” team, which was the only one that knew how to beat the Rezekne women this season, and took second place, despite the fact that they managed to collect only two points in the last match. FK “Auda” finished one point behind the representatives of Iecava in the honorable third place, while RFS/Babītes SK and FB “Gulbene”/SK “Kuorsova” remained far behind.

Viktorija Vishniakova from the Rēzekne BJSS team became the top scorer of the championship with 20 goals scored, while Renāte Gaugere from FK “Iecava” was named the best player of the championship. Another representative of the champions, Kristīne Klementjeva, was honored as the best goalkeeper, Liva Šteinberga from RFS/Babīte SK received the sympathy award, while Sergej Prokopkina from Rēzekne BJSS was named the best coach.
In the first stage of the championship, all ten teams were divided geographically into two groups of five. First, the teams in their groups competed against each other twice. The first two place winners of each group, as well as the best third place holder, played two more rounds against each other in the second stage, dividing the medal sets, while the other five of the championship played a one-round tournament against each other.
This was the second season of the Latvian Women’s Indoor Football League. In the first nine-team competition, Riga Football School was the best. The women’s indoor football league competition was introduced with the aim of developing the Latvian women’s indoor football team, which made its debut in the European Championship selection competition last year. Players born in 2008 and earlier took part in the tournament this season.
