Mexico, Feb 10 (EFE) .- The Peruvian Juan Reynoso, coach of the Cruz Azul of Mexican soccer, assured this Wednesday that his team will play with its best figures in the Concacaf Champions League, in which he will seek to be a protagonist.
“If necessary, we will rotate the squad to put the best in each game,” he said at a press conference, after the draw for the regional competition.
Cruz Azul, which has six Concacaf trophies, will face Haitian Arcahie in the round of 16 of the Concacaf Champions League, which will start with the first leg matches between April 6 and 8.
“By knowing who we are, we can start planning the logistics, researching the rival, which we imagine is a typical Caribbean team,” he said.
Despite the fact that since 2006 all the winners of the Concacaf tournament have been Mexican, the South American coach refused to underestimate rivals from other countries.
“I put myself in their shoes, facing Cruz Azul is something historic for them, we must respect them and always have the best team available. Playing half against a rival will always keep us alert, “said Reynoso, who as a footballer reached a final of the Copa Libertadores with Cruz Azul, acknowledged that he is excited to compete again internationally with the celestial ones.
“It is always exciting to compete in an international championship. We are aware that you must fight in the League and the Concacaf Cup. It is something similar to what has happened to us in the Libertadores ”, he pointed out.
The Peruvian said that the first part of the Concacaf Champions League will be accessible to Cruz Azul, but then they will have to work hard to win the title that gives a ticket to the Club World Cup.
“If you want to experience the Tigres (a Club World Cup final), you have to beat everyone. I see myself passing the first half and from there to compete, as we do in the League, “he concluded.
