Today, Wednesday 11 October at 8.00 pm, the first European home double-header is scheduled for Reyer Venezia who will go on to challenge the highly rated French team Paris Basketball at Taliercio. The Parisians enter the second round of EuroCup Basketball after having swept away Wolves Vilnius 105-78 with 20 points and 9 assists from TJ Shorts (MVP of the first round of Eurocup). The head coach is Tuomas Iisalo, last year at Telekom Basket Bonn with whom he won the Champions League and reached the championship final in Germany. Together with the coach there are six players from Bonn: TJ Shorts, Herrera, Malcolm, Ward, Kessens and Kratzer. The comment: Reyer plays a strong game against a very good team like Paris, shooting 50% from three points (9/18), but there are a few too many flaws, some details that are not well defined but masked by Simms’ performances and Weavers. Spissu’s absence and O’Connell’s running injury must also be linked to the details. 2nd quarter – Tucker on the line after the clash with Shorts, but the trio goes to the official review thinking about the orogranata’s unsportsmanlike performance. Nothing to do, there are two free throws, tied at 24. Very fragmented moments, Paris lost with 24″ in the 12th minute. Simms puts the triple on Jantunen’s head, then with 6’56” Reyer exhausts the bonus. Simms launches the counterattack and Tessitori completes it 29-24.
