4th quarter – Two sprints by Jantunen and Sy allow Paris Basketball to equalize with 8’49” at 60, and Spahija calls a timeout but then Ward scores the pass and Shorts extends on the counterattack. The 0-8 break is closed by Tucker Kessens from two and Tessitori from three for 65-66 in the 35th minute. Tessitori recovers from Hifi, Simms makes two free throws and counter-overtakes 67-66. Shorts and Parks have no luck at the basket, then with 3’40” Kessens puts the Paris head ahead. Shorts adds two with 2’59” and Spahija stops the game again. Reyer’s throw is unsuccessful, however there is a game incident involving Casarin who takes a fortuitous header from Malcom, who goes to the line to close the game 1/2. Coast to coast by Tucker +4 Paris with 6.7″. Jantunen scores his two free throws to make it 75-81 in the 40th minute.

Reyer Venezia – Paris Basketball 75-81.

The comment: Reyer plays a strong game against a very good team like Paris, shooting 50% from three points (9/18), but there are a few too many flaws, some details that are not well defined but masked by Simms’ performances and Weavers. Spissu’s absence and O’Connell’s running injury must also be linked to the details. We need to be more convincing and determined at certain levels, especially in the final moments, another opportunity wasted.

3rd quarter – Shorts two, Simms three open the second half. Simms and Ward’s triple to make it 46-45, Parks keeps Reyer +5 with two baskets in a row. Hifi bomb and timeout at 50-48 in the 26th minute. Upon returning, another bomb from Simms +5. Malcom and Tessitori keep pace with 3’00” 55-50. Tyson Ward goes with 2/3 to the line. Tucker and two free throws from Tessitori for +7 Venezia, then entering the last minute Sy shortens from below. With 44 .3″ Simms is 1/2 in bezel. Two free throws by Jantunen make it 60-56 in the 30th minute. Body-to-body final, Reyer dies with the ball in her hands at 24″ with Simms. Hifi’s triple for the French +6 hurts entering the 39th minute, when Simms puts the bomb for -3. The Capitolines believe it, Shorts penetrates, scores, takes the extra with 1’40” (Parks’ fifth) 70-76. Free for Simms 1/2. From the rebound, Tucker takes the ball and gets blocked by Malcom. Casarin stops Shorts and Simms scores on the counterattack. Free for Shorts with 15.8″ 2/2 timeout Reyer.

2nd quarter – Tucker on the line after the clash with Shorts, but the trio goes to the official review thinking about the orogranata’s unsportsmanlike performance. Nothing to do, there are two free throws, tied at 24. Very fragmented moments, Paris lost with 24″ in the 12th minute. Simms puts the triple on Jantunen’s head, then with 6’56” Reyer exhausts the bonus. Simms launches the counterattack and Tessitori completes it 29-24. The French began to stop shooting us from the arc and undermined their rebounding superiority (6 attacking rebounds at the moment). Parks extends with 5’50” +7, but Malcom scores the bomb this time 31-27 in the 15th minute. Iisalo timeout. Third foul by Larry Brown, free for Kessens +2 Reyer. Tessitori does everything himself, and extends. Free for Hifi 33-31 with 3’33”. Simms finds the rim, takes the rebound and scores the 2+1. Hifi shortens from two. Lost by De Nicolao, who then commits a foul on Shorts. 0/2 but tap-in by Kratzer +1 Reyer. Simms finds a winning lay-up, Malcom a fast break first and a triple in the next play +2 Paris. Spahija timeout with 35″. Tucker scores a triple, and Venezia leads 41-40 at 20″.

1st quarter – Sy and Tessitori blow their whistles at the start but it’s Simms’ triple that puts Venezia ahead after 2′ 10-8. Shorts equalized, baskets by Tessitori and Sy thanks to the high pace and excellent percentages, and Tucker broke away from Reyer with the bomb of 13-10 with 6’52”. Tessitori reached double figures in the 5th minute, but Hifi and Jantunen they keep pace 16-14 at 5′. Paris timeout after Parks’ basket. Tucker starts again with 2/3 on the line +6 but Kessens shortens and Nadir’s triple brings the French to -1 at 7′. Shorts’ floater with 2’21” it hurts Umana who suffers the overtaking 20-21 and Spahija timeout. There is a lot of transition in the legs of the two teams. O’Connell scores from mid-range on a jump but falls back to the ground with an ankle problem and comes out accompanied with 1’44”. Double attempt by Shorts who in the end gets two free throws 1/2 tie with 47″. Tessitori’s second foul sends him back to the line 2/2. Brown sends the response between the rim and the scoreboard at the siren and it’s 22-24 at 10′.

– The presentation of the match made by coach Neven Spahija: “First of all, as I said last time, I hope that our team makes progress match after match. Against Paris we need to play well in attack and defense, they are very strong and we are aware of it, they have only lost one game so far. We hope to take advantage of the good game in Pesaro to take a step forward in front of our fans. Paris Basketball is a team with a lot of talent, they play with a very high pace. They have two dominant guards, capable of penetrating and shooting from outside, but the most important aspect of Paris concerns the block of six players who come, together with the coach, from the same team. They have great chemistry.”
