The battalion commander of the 46th Airmobile Brigade Anatoly “Kupol” has been demoted. According to Ukrainska Pravda, he will now be the deputy commander of the battalion of the training center.
The reason for this was a scandalous interview with the American newspaper The Washington Post, in which “Kupol” criticized the actions of the military authorities.
“The decision to downgrade “Kupol” was made by the commander of the Airborne Assault Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, that is, Major General Maksim Myrgorodsky,” says the UP article.
“Kupol” reacted sharply to this step and wrote his resignation.
“Ukrainska Pravda” also contacted the press office of the State Security Service for comment, but they have not yet responded.
This is not the first time in the 46th Brigade that they have moved from a combat unit to a training center after communicating with the press. In January 2023, sergeant from the Ukrainian Armed Forces Alexander Pogrebisky spoke in an interview for UP about the situation in Soledar, where he was leaving the Ukrainian army at the time. After that, Pogrebiski was demoted.

Anatoly “Kupol” has been fighting for Ukraine since 2014. After February 24, 2022, it also protects the Ukrainian borders during the hostilities against Russia.
In an interview with the American newspaper, he said that 100 out of 500 soldiers died in his battalion. 100 new soldiers arrive in their place, but they are not given time to prepare. Anatoli pointed out that they had abandoned everything and fled because they were afraid to shoot.
Also, “Kupol” said that there are already very few soldiers with combat experience in the Ukrainian army. Many of them were killed or injured.
