Rewe customer doesn’t believe what he sees – “German intelligence”

A customer of Rewe didn’t think anything bad when he entered the store to shop. However, what he saw right at the entrance shocked him completely and he posted what he saw on Facebook.

The picture on Facebook shows a machine in a Rewe branch. It is actually not a machine for deposit return, but a place where you can return the “Simply Reusable” containers.

Rewe has been using reusable containers since 2023

The containers will be used for all take-away offers. Rewe previously used disposable packaging for these offers, but has been using these containers since 2023 to create a more sustainable offering.

The “Simply Reusable” offer is very varied and customers are offered several containers. There are not only bowls for meals, but also containers for soups. There are even reusable cups. These containers can be easily returned to the vending machine in a Rewe branch after consumption.

However, this is not possible at the affected machine because a sign has been put up saying that it is “broken”. Rewe customers cannot use this machine at the moment and have to use another one.

Multiple warnings to customers

However, this Rewe customer is suspicious because there is not just one sign indicating that the machine is broken. To make sure that customers are informed, three signs have been attached to the machines!

A measure that the Facebook user considers to be completely excessive. He posted the picture from the Rewe branch and wrote “German intelligence in just one picture…” Apparently the supermarket is afraid that not all customers will understand the message with just one sign, which is why they put up three to be on the safe side. Either an employee was particularly eager or they simply don’t trust the customers very much.
