A station dedicated to two-wheelers where you can repair them for free, inflate the tires and restore the batteries. The e-bike Port, that’s its name, can accommodate from 4 to 64 bikes depending on the model.
Equipped with a wi-fi terminal, a camera, a defibrillator, the station made in Limousin can be purchased by local authorities, businesses and universities for a price ranging between 20,000 and 40,000 euros. Amortized cost thanks to advertising broadcast on a screen integrated into the wooden structure.
In about twenty municipalities
Philippe Faye thought about the concept for five years, created his company, invented the first station in Limoges, installed it on the banks of Vienna in early March 2020, a fortnight before the Covid pandemic.
“We managed to get through this period and we have since developed considerably. We continued to work. Initially, I received aid from the Region, up to 42,000 euros.”
Today, autonomous Port e-bike stations are installed in around twenty towns in France, in Besançon (Doubs), Bordeaux (Gironde), Toulouse (Haute-Garonne), and even Val-d’Isère ( Savoie) where, during the winter, the station is used for skiers. In summer, it is used by cyclists and accommodates 64 supports. In France, a high school in Thionville (Moselle) has also integrated a station in front of the establishment.

Everywhere in France, except in Limoges…
The relatively easy installation of the Port e-bike, in one morning, in the middle of nature, in any place and its easy operation thanks to solar energy undoubtedly won over the jury of the prestigious Lépine competition.
Philippe Faye has just received the gold medal from the city of Paris for his invention. “It is necessarily a satisfaction. This medal is recognition for the work accomplished. The jurors listed the results. I did not believe it too much because they start from the last to arrive at the first. The more it advanced in the ranking , the less I believed in it.”

The e-bike Port continues its development in France and now offers a system for recharging electric cars. “The books are full. We have eight orders in anticipation.”
In Limousin, only one town has this Limoges invention, in Saint-Pardoux. The very first bicycle charging station, which was located in Limoges, on the banks of the Vienne, has long since disappeared. “I never heard back from the community. After a while, I took it off,” laments the designer.
