MerahPutih.com – Researchers from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) demonstrated a hair-thin battery to power small robots (nanobots).
Site Techcrunch report that the small battery was specially designed to power the system, the power that can be produced reaches 1 volt. The battery measures 0.1 millimeters long and 0.002 millimeters thick, about the thickness of a hair.
Nanobots can use batteries to perform various tasks, such as aiming to deliver drugs into the human body to check for gas leaks in pipes.

Even though its size is almost invisible, the battery is said to be able to power sensors, circuits, and even mobile actuators.
“We think this will be very feasible for robots,” said the study’s senior author Professor Michael Strano.

In addition, Strano said that they are building robotic functions into the battery and starting to assemble these parts into machines.
Currently the battery system is still connected to an external device, but the researchers believe that they will be able to design a version of the power source that is completely covered by nanobots.

In addition, the research team is also working to increase the voltage level that the battery system can produce.
“We can build robots around energy sources, just like we can build electric cars around batteries,” Strano said. (*)
