The Guards of the Revolution —an elite body of Iran’s armed forces—announced tonight that the “major” operation using drones and missiles, which they are conducting, they christened “True Promise“, is “part of Israel’s punishment” for its “numerous crimes”, as reported by Iranian state television a while ago.
Iran launched 100 drones and cruise missiles against Israel. Some were shot down above Syria and Jordanthe Israeli channel CH 12 TV reported.
According to the announcement, Iran’s Revolutionary Guards launched large-scale drone strikes against targets in Israel, Iran’s English-language Press TV network reported, citing Iranian sources.
Information from foreign networks says that Israel has already started intercepting Iranian drones over Syria and Jordan.
The ability to do so is thanks to an aerial umbrella that the US has created in cooperation with regional allies.
Meanwhile, Iran’s defense minister issued a statement warning neighboring countries that any that open their airspace to Israel to intercept drones will be targeted.
The supreme leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Mr Ali Khameneireiterated tonight that Israel will be “punished,” in a video distributed by his services via X (formerly Twitter).
Tehran launched dozens of drones and cruise missiles against Israel.
“The perverse regime will be punished,” Ali Khamenei said in the minute-and-a-half-long video, which appears to be an excerpt from a speech he delivered on Wednesday.
