Revolutionary Decision in Turkish Football: Independent Arbitrator Board Set to Change Refereeing Appointments

A radical decision was made for referees, the most controversial topic of this season in Turkish football.

Referees have been the biggest topic of discussion in Turkish football for a long time. There were big discussions on the field, including the president of the Super League hitting the referee. However, a revolutionary decision that will put an end to the debates about the appointment of a referee, which has been one of the most fundamental problems in Turkish football for years, is about to be implemented.

INDEPENDENT ARBITRATOR BOARD

According to Fanatik news, the Turkish Football Federation and the clubs competing in professional leagues agreed to the idea of establishing an independent referee board. The project, inspired by the German model, was approved by each club.

The independent referee board is set to have a say in refereeing appointments from next season. The project approved by TFF and the clubs will be implemented as follows. TFF will set up a company, professional clubs will set up another company. These two companies will form a new company with 5 members. 3 of the members will be confirmed by TFF and 2 by the clubs. This company, which has 5 members, will appoint an independent arbitration board.

SAME AS GERMAN MODEL

The arbitration committee will begin its activities on a professional basis; He shall have the authority to appoint and approve all types of referees, including the certification of classification referees. With this structure, the Board will ensure that clubs have a full say in refereeing positions.

The independent referee board will be able to make independent decisions from the TFF and the clubs regarding the appointment of foreign referees and VAR referees, if necessary. The current model is reported to be the same as the German model, but it is similar to the British model.

A PRESENTATION WILL BE MADE

The Federation’s professionals, led by TFF manager Mustafa Eröğüt, will join the club’s representatives and present the new system. It is planned to establish an independent referee board as soon as the leagues are ready.
