“Revolution of October 17” with 17 points!

Samir Skaf wrote in Al-Liwaa:

- The revolution of October 17 against corruption and corruption in Lebanon. He faced authority in the streets, in demonstrations, in sit-ins, in entering ministries and departments, in homes, in preventing the public movements of his staff, in the media and in the judiciary …

- The revolution of October 17 revealed that corruption is linked to the absence of sovereignty. And that the “Hezbollah” weapon protects the mafia. It began as a request and continued as a sovereign political request.

- The revolution of October 17 wanted to “rebuild the state”, and revealed the impossibility of any reform in the light of the survival of this corrupt ruling political class and the survival of the “weapons of Hezbollah”.

- The revolution of October 17 established a mechanism of change that stems from a transitional government, the independence of the judiciary, the return of plundered funds and the realization of citizenship in a rule of law.

- The revolution of 17 October revealed the largest theft operation in history carried out by the people of the ruling political class in collaboration with the governor of the Banque du Liban, the owners of banks and their general managers.

- The revolution of October 17 was launched without sectarian slogans, without flag or party color, and only under the banner and colors of the Lebanese flag. She has funded most of her moves on her own, contrary to the many rumors that have circulated to her.

- The revolution of October 17 enlarged and gathered all the Lebanese regions and all the Lebanese sects and sects. The Union of the Squares of the Revolution, one of its main weapons in all major movements, was an example of this.

- The Revolution of October 17 adopted the slogan “All means all of them”. And he wanted to put all the pillars of power under responsibility. She did not allow her to be embarked anywhere, contrary to the accusations made against her.

- The revolution of October 17 was peaceful. It has not committed violent operations, unlike what is marketed. There have been no murders, no murders, no house fires … although there have been small violent doses. He made a number of martyrs. He suffered thousands of injuries and many lost their eyes or other body parts.

- The revolution of October 17 witnessed, together with the Lebanese people, the largest non-nuclear explosion in the world. He has done a lot of humanitarian work. He initiated and supported the families of the Beirut bombing victims in most of their movements.

- The October 17 Revolution achieved many popular successes and won many union and student elections.

- The revolution of October 17 paved the way for monitoring and accountability and examined every move of the state under the microscope. Today it has become impossible to smuggle businesses and brokers without the scrutiny of public opinion.

- The Revolution of October 17, directly or indirectly, overthrew more than one government. It has excluded ministers from recent governments and exposed the lies of many parties and currents in the fictitious “results”.

- The revolution of October 17 did not achieve the change it wanted. Because she had to deal with three factors that prevented her from getting what she wanted and contributed to her exit from the earth: the Corona pandemic, the financial catastrophe (and the gasoline outage), and the position of the international community that supported the authority against the people and the revolution.

- The revolution of October 17 did not achieve a unified leadership because it did not come from a party or a region. Most of the activists and cadres did not know each other. And they needed time to get to know each other and build trust.

- The Revolution of 17 October managed to obtain the highest number of preferential votes in the last parliamentary elections with 472,000 votes, against Hezbollah’s 340,000, the Lebanese Forces 175,000 and the Free Patriotic Movement’s 125,000. However, the numbers were not translated into the number of deputies due to the electoral law, and especially due to the revolution’s failure to unify the regulations. What led to the loss of about 142,000 votes (ie more than what the Orange Movement gained) went to the lists of the revolution that got no seats and no candidates won!

- The Revolution of October 17 put an end to the first revolutionary wave on the evening of May 15, 2022, waiting for a second revolutionary wave.
