Revoked Permits for Thorengruppen AB School in Solna and Thoren Innovation School AB in Malmö

The revoked permits mean that Thorengruppen AB is not allowed to run the independent school in Solna and that Thoren Innovation School AB is not allowed to run the electricity and energy program in Malmö in the coming school year.

The fact that the school in Solna is not allowed to continue is due to shortcomings in the teaching and in the work to help students who need support, according to the School Inspectorate. There are major repeated shortcomings at the school, which is also behind the decision to revoke the permit, according to a press release.

Extensive flaws

As for the revoked permit for the electricity and energy program at the independent school in Malmö, it is due to extensive deficiencies in areas that are central to the program. Therefore, the School Inspectorate does not wait for the investigation for the entire school’s operations, according to the authority.

Affected students will now have to change schools and each home municipality is responsible for ensuring that the students receive a good education. The School Inspectorate urges all students and parents to talk to their home municipality about which upper secondary education they will attend this autumn.

In the case of the high school Thoren Business School Stockholm, the Swedish School Inspectorate is threatening a fine of one million kroner if Thoren does not remedy the shortcomings pointed out by the authority. Among other things, it is about the students not receiving the education they are entitled to. Last school year, the school had a little more than 500 students.

“Deeply saddened”

Thorengruppen has commented on the School Inspectorate’s decision on its website.

“We are deeply saddened by the situation that has arisen, and above all for the students, guardians and employees who are directly affected by this.”

The school group writes that they do not believe that the shortcomings of the schools justify a revoked school permit and that they have therefore appealed the decisions.

“The first step in such a process is for us to appeal and request inhibition so that operations can continue as usual pending the Administrative Court’s ruling. In the meantime, students and guardians will continuously receive information through regular channels and, if necessary, in the form of open question and answer sessions with the management .”

In the meantime, the Thorengruppen must correct the alleged deficiencies and ensure quality work throughout the company so that new deficiencies do not arise in the future, they write.

TT is looking for the Thorengruppen.
