During the past two years, some plays were presented, including: “Always belongs to God,” “Model 90,” “Turmeric and Bazar,” and “Simon in the Time of Pharaoh,” which mixed important social issues with purposeful comedy, and their performances in various emirates of the country witnessed a large audience presence.
Actor Marwan Abdullah, Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Dubai Al Ahli Theater, has taken it upon himself to revitalize the public theater again, by implementing purposeful comedic plays, where he presented during the past 3 years: “Model 90”, “Simon in the Time of Pharaoh” and “Always belong to God.” And “a dusty railway.” He is currently preparing to launch his new play “Barcode Prison,” where he confirmed that with the support of the theater authorities in the country, and the keenness of some theater makers who are passionate about the “Father of the Arts” stage, life has returned to public theater again, explaining that the audience’s interaction and positive reactions gave him the motivation to implement New performances from time to time, stressing the importance of support and attention from the authorities concerned with culture, art and theatre, to provide the required facilities for local theater makers to carry out such purposeful theatrical performances that receive great interest from fans of the “Father of the Arts”.

After an absence of more than 3 years from “Father of the Arts,” actor Juma Ali returned to the public theater with the play “Kurkam and Bazar,” which he presented during the years 2022 and 2023, coinciding with the days of Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha, and most of its performances carried the slogan “full numbers.” He stressed that despite the success he had achieved in his dramatic works in recent years, he dreamed of returning to the “Father of the Arts,” which he loves, and of standing on stage to perform comedic roles in front of an audience who loved theatre. He pointed out that he graduated in theatre, and worked for more than 19 years in presenting plays with an elite group of the most prominent actors, saying: Theater is truly the “Father of the Arts,” as the actor gains extensive artistic experience by standing on stage in terms of acting performance and motor and physical performance. Likewise, improvisation is compatible with theatrical drama. Working in front of a television or film camera is completely different from performing live on stage.
Actress Fatima Al Hosani, who participated in the plays “Kurcum and Bazar” and “Model 90,” confirmed that theater is a complete entertainment experience for all family members, and said: Some Emirati playwrights are keen to carry out public theatrical works, bringing together young and veteran actors, to present plays concerned with fine art.
