The well-known survival game DayZ from the Czech studio Bohemia Interactive enjoys unprecedented popularity 10 years after its release. The title, which was originally created as a modification for the second Arma, was released in 2013 as a stand-alone title in Steam’s early access program, where it managed to attract a large group of players. However, the number of active users gradually decreased due to the contradictory technical status and the relatively slow supply of new content and improvements.
The turning point came only with the release of the full version and the abandonment of early access, which occurred in December 2018. From this date the number of players gradually increased again, which was helped by several free weekends in addition to the game’s ongoing support in the form of updates and new content. The fact that the developers succeeded in reviving the game is proven by the current numbers of active users, which surpassed all previous values.
Dayz has been playing for the past few days according to the site SteamDB in one moment over 69 thousand players, which humbled even the values that the game attacked immediately after the release of early access. We’ll see how the developers deal with the re-charged popularity. Some time ago, for example, there was speculation about a possible full-fledged sequel. In any case, what is certain is that DayZ has definitely not said the last word even after ten years. The game is except for PC (Steam) also available on PS4, PS5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S.
