She pointed out that the evening market accounts for more than one-third of the revenue of the shopping malls. Doing a good job at the evening market first, or even extending the business hours, and then doing the night market will bring prosperity to the shopping malls under the chain effect, which is equivalent to boosting Hong Kong’s economy. Its shopping malls will invest resources and provide discounts to tenants. However, she pointed out that some shops failed to extend their business hours due to lack of manpower, and hoped that the government would expedite and flexibly process applications for the Supplementary Labor Optimization Program to solve the manpower bottleneck in the industry.
New World Land (00017) responded that it will actively support and cooperate with the SAR government to promote the night economy, and actively consider extending the business hours of shopping malls on some days, and hold night activities to attract crowds.
Henderson Land (00012) responded that the group is actively preparing for new plans, including holding night events and contacting merchants to provide discounts.
In addition, Swire Properties (01972) stated that it is studying how to promote the flow of people and customer participation in the mall at night, and will announce the details of the plan in due course.
MTR (00066) stated that it has been closely monitoring Hong Kong’s economic activities and actively studying corresponding measures to cooperate.
Sino Group shopping malls announced that it will give out wine redemption coupons at its properties and launch Mid-Autumn Festival activities; and distribute free drink coupons at high-speed rail stations and bus stops, inviting tourists to enjoy the sea view and wine tasting at Tsim Sha Tsui East.
