The Grand Council unanimously supports the biggest change in the Primary School Act: The special schools come under the umbrella of the Education Directorate. Other topics related to the change in the law were discussed in the session. Instead of mandatory teaching materials, there should be a list of teaching materials from which one must choose. The quality of day schools, responsibility for pedagogical and therapeutic measures in the pre-school sector and education vouchers for talented people were also discussed. Various topics were postponed to the June 2021 session. Because quite a few members of the Corona Council were absent, the political situation in the council had changed too much. Applications relating to expenses relating to curricula and the canton’s participation in the school publisher have also been postponed.
