Oslo City Council is furious at cuts in corona compensation
Oslo’s Finance Council, Einar Wilhelmsen (MDG), strongly criticizes the government for cutting the corona compensation to the municipalities from the revised national budget.
– This is a double breach of promise from the government, Wilhelmsen says to NRK.
– We do not get any of the 850 million we need from the government to cover corona costs in Oslo in 2021. This means that the inhabitants of Oslo must pay for the extra corona burden they have had, unlike other municipalities where the state covers these expenses.
The City Council estimates that this year the municipality will receive corona expenses of approximately NOK 1.3 billion.
– The government and the Storting have said that the municipalities will receive full compensation, but now we get nothing. This puts us in a completely hopeless situation which means that we have to push our efforts to cover corona costs.
