Reviews of Nvidia GeForce RTX 4090 have come out – very good efficiency and performance

Most people were looking forward to the first independent official tests of the Ada Lovelace series of graphics cards, that is GeForce RTX 4000. The results are coming and it must be said that Nvidia has really managed to bring excellent graphics cards to the market that convince not only for performance, but also for excellent efficiency. So, what according to the first rumors must have been the biggest problem of the new series, turns out to be its great advantage. But in order.

Let’s start with a review on Techspotu. At 1440p, the RTX 4090 offered 53% more average fps than the RTX 3090 and 42% more than the RTX 3090 Ti with the same TDP. In the more demanding 4K resolution, however, the scissors opened noticeably and here it was already + 71%, or + 58%. Playing in 4K on the RTX 4090 means an average of 144 fps, while on older cards it is 84 or 91 fps.

As for DLSS, in the case of games with DLSS 2 support, the new RTX 4090 has a 62% higher frame rate than the native 4K resolution game rendering. Compared to the RTX 3090 Ti with DLSS 2, we are talking about 73% higher performance. Cyberpunk 2077 also allowed the use of the new version of DLSS 3. While DLSS 2 increased the performance by 75% in this game, DLSS 3 versus the native 4K resolution also brought 151% good. At lower resolutions, the difference is obviously smaller (at 1440p it is + 31% or + 122%).

As already mentioned, the surprise was the consumption. In Halo at 1440p Ultra, the whole system with a much weaker RTX 3090 required 496W, while the RTX 4090, with 71% more power, took 524W. Although the RTX 3090 Ti is more slow, it took much longer and the whole system consumed 572 W. New cards are therefore cheaper, which is especially true considering the performance. Cyberpunk 2077 at 90 fps is also interesting. The novelty took 215 W (remember, on paper it takes up to 450 W), while the RTX 3090 Ti took 416 W with the same performance, which is almost double. The group’s consumption was 384 W in this test versus 601 W.

Digital Trends he also dedicated himself to testing and measured 89% more performance than the RTX 3090 and 69% more than the RTX 3090 Ti in 4K. In the lowest resolution of 1440p it was + 73%, or + 59%. Here, too, they measured lower consumption than the RTX 3090 Ti. At full power it was 25W less. Evidence was also brought from Wccftech, where in the 4K resolution we see an increase in performance (without tests in RT and DLSS) of 86%, or 71%. Here, too, the low consumption of new cards was confirmed. The whole system with the new card consumed 430W, while the more paper-efficient RTX 3090 was at 498W and the RTX 3090 Ti even at 583W. ’82 96% more than previous generations.

If we average these three reviews for 4K resolution, the RTX 4090 gives us a performance increase of around 82% over the RTX 3090 and 66% over the RTX 3090 Ti. At the same time, it can offer all this with lower consumption, which stands out above all compared to the 3090 Ti, which has the same paper consumption, but a higher effective consumption. On the other hand, it must be added that the promised double performance compared to the previous generation is not happening, and something is missing from the novelty.
