She came on the scene in a burgundy dress, which set her apart from her teammates, who chose primarily black. As soon as she inhaled in the opening track, Broken Pieces Shine, she took over the reins of the evening. And although she held them in the privileged role of a solo singer, in the supporting role of a co-author of music and the author of sometimes very personal and generally meaningful lyrics, she managed it gracefully.

She was in amazing voice. She sang heavy solo parts with admirable ease, extraordinary intonation accuracy, and she still had time to smile, speak to the audience.

It didn’t matter if Evanescence had just learned from his discography, because songs from different periods sounded, they cut a strong song, some at a medium tempo, or a loose, ballad one. In the first, Amy Lee was shrouded in musical flesh, but she stood out because her voice was rich and firm. In the others she was natural, in the slow songs she reached into deep emotions in her expression, which were due to the sometimes intimate content of the lyrics.

It was not a cheap theater. Lee worked it out on stage, naturally enjoyed it, and although some of the audience sang some passages with her, she honestly sang them herself, didn’t put their weight on the fans, didn’t skimp on them. Why would she do that when the concert brings her such pleasure. If she had the audience sing for herself, then only for a moment.

Amy Lee’s immense talent did not stay stuck in the sound that flowed into the hall. He was well-readable and, unlike the pre-jumping British Yonak, who benefited from the music of the strong rock nineties in their work, he did not destroy their ear canals, on the contrary, he gave them just to dance with bliss.

The musicians from Evanescence, of whom the bassist and reliable vocalist Emma Anzai came to the band only this year, skillfully supported their singer throughout the concert, while leaving her enough space to make it look like her solo set. The projections, from which the emotions did not radiate too much, were similarly intended.

Evanescence played an excellent concert in Prague. It brought together devotion, total professionalism and the ability to go beyond Gothic metal, a key style of formation. And Amy Lee, she really has it in her throat.
