Review: Xiaomi Scooter 4 Ultra – Pros, Minuses, and Design Features

Pros

Comfortable suspension Puncture resistant wheels 25 km/h uphill

Minuses

Does not have cruise control. Higher tread

The importance of the parameters of the electric scooter presented in the spring Xiaomi Scooter 4 Ultra it stood out especially after the approved European rules, which will start to apply in our country next year. So that you don’t have to pay compulsory insurance for the scooter and don’t need a registration plate, it must be lighter than 25 kg, ride a maximum of 25 km/h and the power must not exceed 1000 W. The maximum speed of 25 km/h has been held by Xiaomi in Europe for a long time, but the Ultra also weighs 24, 5 kg and its 500 W motor offers a peak power of 940 W.

Xiaomi Scooter 4 Ultra

Maximum speed: 25 km/h ● rated engine power: 500 W (peak 940 W) ● battery: 561.5 Wh (charging time with 124W adapter 6.5 h) ● indicated range: 70 km (75 kg rider, max 15 km/ h) ● brakes: drum front, E-ABS rear ● tires: 10″ DuraGel ● max. load: 120 kg ● rider height 120-200 cm ● resistance: IP55 ● Dimensions (h × w × d): 126 × 55 × 120 cm, step: 49 × 17 cm ● weight 25 kg

Since even many weaker scooters can go 25 km/h, in the case of the Ultra, the higher power is mainly used so that you can ride the 25 km/h even up a moderate hill with an adult rider (~80 kg).

Even with the pronounced front suspension, the Xiaomi Scooter 4 Ultra still has a non-threatening, pleasantly unobtrusive appearance

Double suspension

Xiaomi scooters have always boasted a very decent unobtrusive design. Their now iconic silhouette was then copied by a number of other less famous brands. In the case of the Ultra model, on the other hand, Xiaomi used the unconventional design of the front suspension from powerful premium scooters and refined it into its understated design. In reality, there has also been a change of manufacturer, instead of Ninebot, they produce the new Brightway series for Xiaomi, and the Ultra therefore has a lot in common with its Navee S65C.

The characteristic front suspension is complemented by a more subtle one on the rear wheel

The non-traditional lever suspension of the front wheel looks unusual at first glance, but the design is still rather muted and there are no aggressive elements indicating extreme performance or off-road capabilities. The rear wheel is also sprung, albeit in a much more unobtrusive design. The suspension stroke is not particularly pronounced, but it filters out driving on small gravel or cobblestones well. On city blocks, you still feel vibrations in the handlebars, but you move along them with a dull familiarity rather than with trembling apprehension. Compared to basic scooters, slightly wider and larger wheels, which also have gel protection against punctures, help here.
