Although it hasn’t been long since the band’s “Trianas Parks” previous studio album “11” – it saw the light of day in the middle of October last year, and due to all the cowards, it has not even been shown in a big concert with “Trians”, Agnese Rakovska & Co again has accumulated what to say. This is summarized in the mini-album “Compositions”.
The five-song EP was written in the first half of this year in the creative camps of the group “Triānas Parks”, the recording was made in Cēsis studio “Aleja Records” and in Rīga “Mute Studija”. The listeners got acquainted with the first single of this collection “Lonely Island” already in September, but the collaboration with Igo in the song “Mālos pelēkos” has just started on the ears. In terms of form, “Compositions” is more of a conceptual work that starts with a question and ends with an answer. The album was created in three months, so the themes are closely related. The recording is permeated by an idea that is probably not very popular in pop music – the study of loneliness. The changes that characterized this year separated us from the usual social groups, forcing us to regroup. The variations are different, the loneliness is unchanged, ”Agnese outlines the main motives of the album. Stylistically, “Compositions” are announced as a continuation of the album “11”, but the listeners already know what it is like with the “chameleon” Agnes – she doesn’t tend to sit in the same musical frames for a long time …
THROUGH. This is really a continuation of the album “11”, which is very good also from the aspect that the listeners have had a year to get used to the new sound of “Triana Park”. The absolute gem of this album is the song “Lonely Island” with an excellent guitar motif, rhythm and also lyrics, but everyone knows it the same way, because they have heard it. By the way, the texts have always been Agnese’s strength, but this time it turns out to be especially bright. “I have a lonely island / What only the sea visits / One is also good / My silence inspires me” (from “Lonely island”), “My scars are alive and real / Like shores crumbling before my eyes” (from the song “Shores ”). The skin of loneliness.
PRICE. The album creates dual feelings, from absolute excitement to confusion and even indifference. For example, “Mālos gray” – this is not the repertoire of “Triana Park”, it would rather fit into the non-existent Agnese solo album, which would include various works by the charismatic singer, but it is undeniable that this piece will be the top of radio stations. Or the song “Tide” – as if everything is fine, but something annoying in the song. “About Me and You”, which is like a semi-acoustic version, also raises a lot of questions, although the song is sympathetic. And then it turns out that most of the pieces included in this EP evoke two kinds of emotions, although overall the album makes a very good impression. Mysticism.
