REVIEW: The Treasure is not an adventure or a comedy – News

Havlík is now releasing Poklad, an adventure comedy that is supposed to star Jiří Langmajer and Veronika Khek Kubařová in the lead roles of a father and daughter who have to restart their relationship.

Karel (Langmajer) is a professor of history at the university, almost his whole life is full of finding the treasure of the Portuguese ship Flor de la Mar, which was destroyed in 1511. However, there is a problem his research, called lack of money. And so he writes a letter in Prague to his daughter Julia (Kubařová), who has refused to communicate with him for seven years, asking her for a loan of half a million crowns, which is her share of the inheritance from her deceased mother .

Julie, who is the best chef in a restaurant with Michelin stars, asks for a week off and flies to Bali to talk to her father and send him to hell with his request.

REVIEW: A Life to Eat is headed for the European Oscars, but it’s a lot of fun

Movie

What is bold, not to mention funny, God knows. For almost the entire hour of running time, the two just argue about whether or not Julie will lend her father the money. The fact that she only got a week away from her main job is never addressed, just as we never learn why this character is such a great and famous chef. It doesn’t matter to the movie at all.

The viewer knows that the film will last 100 minutes, so it is clear to him that they must agree on the loan/investment, because if Julie went home there would be nothing to play about for the three quarters of an hour the time ahead. Karel and his three-member team don’t even have home tickets.

And so in the end, despite the fruitless conversation, in which the entire family history is revealed in the first “secret” announcements, then in “honest” publications, we see the act after all. Juliet joins the treasure hunt, and at first she frantically cleans up the mess the others have been living in. Later, he proves his good knowledge of Latin, translates the text in an old book, and finally leaves with the whole trip to the right place.

Why didn’t Karel translate that book properly at home in Prague? Don’t ask, there is no answer to this or other questions that come up throughout the film.

Beautiful location in Bali

Perhaps the only important thing is that it is really beautiful in Bali, the camera captures the lively traffic on the streets, brings folklore closer, draws on beautiful nature. After all, one of the sponsors of the film that was filmed in this destination was a special holiday resort. There were also underwater scenes with an explanation of the basic rules for diving, but the only adventure that takes place in the film, surprisingly enough, the creators did not film, but let the actor tell him.

And humor? Perhaps this is because one of the group of underwater treasure hunters is afraid of water and all that the alien landscape entails.

“Water brings, water takes away,” sounds one of the many so-called wisdoms that attract the ears, but even that is not proven in the end. After all, the whole situation seems like a pretty neat reason for the whole crew to stay at a popular vacation destination.

Otherwise, the whole story could take place in Štěchovice, for example. Like the treasure there, the one from Flor de la Mar has never been found.

In the end, apart from the beauty of the island of Bali, only the excellent performances of Veronika Khek Kubařová and Jiří Langmajer remain from the good things of the film Treasure, which, although not fundamentally helps the film, but it is obvious that both of them can act in any situation.
