hello. Jongcheol Lee’s happy review, I’m happy, but I’ll be picky about it. The product brought today is The Freestyle 2nd generation. I really wanted to review this product, so I rented it from Samsung Electronics.
Now, you know freestyle well. A small beam projector that can be carried around. This was slightly upgraded and the second generation was released.
First of all, there are two thoughts that come to mind when I turn it on. It turns on faster than the old one. The reaction speed is faster than the 1st generation. Second, there is a lot to see. These days, Samsung monitors and TVs all come with Samsung Tizen OS. Freestyle 2nd generation also uses this OS. So, as soon as I turn it on, Samsung TV Plus appears. You can view everything without registering or logging in. So the worry about what to watch first disappears. And it supports all OTT such as Netflix, Disney+, Apple TV+, YouTube, and TVING. So there is no problem with nothing to see – let me put it this way.
What is an unexpected advantage? Our office is very bright, but if you look at it, you can see it just fine, right? For those who mainly use it in dark places, the brightness will be no problem.
And as the name Freestyle suggests, you can adjust the angle as you like, so I personally enjoyed watching movies on the ceiling while lying in my room. It’s not just the ceiling. You can shoot it at any wall. So I watch it even when I eat. You can watch it anytime when you’re bored or before going to bed.
Now, this question arises. Don’t you have to adjust the focus every time? no. It has auto keystone and auto focusing functions. Just shoot at any wall and it will recognize the sensor and automatically focus. If you don’t like this, you can adjust the keystone. However, during the two weeks I used it, I never once adjusted the keystone or focus.
There is also a function called auto-leveling. It shouldn’t be as wrinkled as a curtain, but wallpaper tends to cry a little when the humidity is high in the summer. There is a function that corrects that. It’s a strange world. We have a screen at home. Of course, it’s best to shoot it on a screen, but even when shooting it on a white wall, everything came out pretty decent. It will also be a very useful feature for those who use it while camping.
The only complaint about these auto functions is that since they emit light, when you tilt them, you can see a bright area on the side like this. It’s unavoidable, but it’s true that it’s annoying when you see it.
And since the speaker was said to be 5W, I honestly ignored it. However, the sound comes from 360 degrees. The sound is very loud. So, at home, only half the volume is enough, and when you go out, you can use the maximum volume.
Anyone who uses a projector will know this. This feels different from watching it on TV. It feels a little more analog, like a movie theater. This feeling is optimal for watching videos. Especially when I watch old Hong Kong movies, it feels really right.
Now, there is something else to do with Tizen OS. Samsung Gaming Hub. I also use Xbox Game Pass. All you need is this small beam and a controller and you can play the game anywhere. Oh, of course you have to have internet, but is there a place in your country that doesn’t have internet?
Now, I am currently watching the new Korean work ‘The Lies of P’ on Beam. The good thing about using a projector is that you can do it while lying in bed. You can do it anywhere: on the sofa, at the dining table, at work.
Now, there is another advantage that only Beam has. Magic screen. It projects various lights onto the wall. When a friend comes to visit, you can also show them a welcome message or congratulatory message. Personally, I really liked the bonfire mode.
And you can take various Instagram photos.
In fact, you almost never connect via wire these days. All you need is the SmartThings app to connect to your smartphone. And it’s better if you use a Samsung phone. It’s called tab view, so just touch it and screen mirroring will start.
If you go camping in the mountains where there is no internet or anything – use HDMI only in that case. I’m a stay-at-home mom, so I’ve never written anything.
Now, and a feature unique to the 2nd generation. Wide view.
Actually, just one Freestyle device is enough. You can get a 100-inch screen with just one device. However, you can connect two to make 160 inches. Connecting the two is done by placing a marker like this. It’s called smart edge blending. The feature is that it can create a 21:9 cinemascope ratio. The dramas we commonly watch have a 16:9 ratio. Of course, you can watch a movie at the same rate with just one, but if you have two, it becomes an even more perfect movie theater. This screen in my house is 100 inches. Can you see that it is far over 100 inches? So I just put it on a blank wall and looked at it bigger.
Now, let’s talk about the cons. The brightness is not very high. Still, if you lower the illumination just a little, it becomes quite viewable. And the price is not cheap. If you purchase it from Samsung.com, it costs 1.19 million won, including the dedicated external battery. The battery can also charge other USB products. This is essential if you want to use it outdoors. I mainly use it indoors, so I rarely use the battery, so please only purchase it if you need it. I can’t say the price is cheap, but I daresay that the freedom of being able to watch any movie in any position is worth the money.
Now, then, should you buy this product or not?
I absolutely need bright products. Don’t buy it. There are a lot of good projectors from Samsung that are a bit expensive, especially those with triple lasers. It would be better to buy something like that. Instead, you can’t use it outside the house, right?
I am a homebody. buy. This is me. I really didn’t waste any money because I could use it in 50,000 places around the house. I was especially shocked when I decided to break up while lying down and drinking beer.
