I tried using the Android tablet “Galaxy Tab S6 Lite” released by Samsung Electronics Japan on June 23rd. This model was released globally in 2020, but the model released in Japan has been updated to the latest version of the chipset and OS. Wi-Fi model only, price is 56,798 yen.

Easy to carry
A feeling of just right size

When I used the Galaxy Tab S6 Lite, the first thing I liked was the size. The body size is 244.5 x 154.3 x 7.0mm, which is smaller than an A4 magazine and larger than a book. It seems to be useful not only when you are at home, but also when you are on the move, you can quickly take it out of your bag and check the web or email, regardless of where you are. However, it does not support mobile communication, so a Wi-Fi connection is required.

The main body size is 244.5 × 154.3 × 7.0 mm and weighs 465 g

The screen size is 10.4 inches and the resolution is 2000 x 1200 dots. Speaking of Galaxy, we tend to think of organic EL, but the display of Galaxy Tab S6 Lite is liquid crystal. However, did LCDs have such fine image quality? The more you think, the more beautiful it is displayed. The bezel is thin, and the screen occupancy rate is 81.1%. Despite being compact, it feels spacious.

When turned sideways, the power button and volume button are mounted on the upper left. There is a microSD card slot on the top right. The configuration consists of a speaker and earphone jack on the left, and a speaker and USB Type-C port on the right. There is no fingerprint sensor, and biometric authentication is face recognition only. In addition, if you turn it vertically, the power button and volume button will be on the right side, and it will be the same arrangement as a general smartphone.

The internal storage is modest at 64GB, but it can be expanded by inserting a microSD card of up to 1TB

The built-in speakers are stereo, and the sound quality is at a satisfactory level. It also has a 3.5mm hole earphone jack

The back panel is matte and feels smooth to the touch. The rear camera is 8 megapixels and the front camera is 5 megapixels. Impression that the camera is the minimum spec required. The global Galaxy Tab S6 Lite was developed in three colors, but only gray will be released in Japan. Even if it says “gray”, it is close to black, and it seems to fit in the business scene.

normal performance and
No need to worry about battery life

The processor is Snapdragon 720G (up to 2.3GHz / 8 cores). You can think of it as middle class. Basic tasks such as launching “Chrome” and browsing the web, launching “Samsung Note” and writing notes were done quickly and quickly.

The Galaxy Tab S6 Lite has the ability to easily split the screen and use up to 3 apps simultaneously. Even when I tried this, the response did not slow down, and I could operate it smoothly. However, the memory is only 4GB, so it is not suitable for heavy-load multitasking operations or graphics-intensive games. As far as I tried it, the movement sometimes became sluggish when I left multiple apps open.

By dragging the icon on the taskbar displayed at the bottom of the screen, you can divide the screen into up to 3 and use 3 apps at the same time.

The battery capacity is 7040mAh. The specs say “Internet use up to 14 hours, video playback up to 15 hours”, but the actual feeling of use is the same, and unless you use it quite heavily, the battery will run out in a day or two. I don’t think so.

Originally battery life is good, but it also has a power saving mode
