REVIEW: Royal Blood “Typhoons” – Music

The hottest news in world music in the last days of April is the third studio album of the British rock band “Royal Blood”, which was announced as one of the most important rock albums of 2021 before its release.

Unsurprisingly, as Mike Kerr and Ben Tacher were able to get interested with their debut line “Royal Blood” (2014), they created an even bigger stir with “How Did We Get So Dark?” (2017), so it is clear that the third disc was also highly anticipated. In addition, the four singles released so far from the new album – “Trouble’s Coming”, “Typhoons”, “Limbo” and “Boilermaker”, which is extremely popular with fans in concerts – have now exceeded 50 million audiences, as well as an impressive volume of radio stations in North America. It should be reminded that in 2019, this explosive rock duo performed at the Positivus Festival (it really was something!) – the band has just announced their latest concert plans, which, from the current point of view, seems quite incredible. And yet – in 2022, a tour of Great Britain is planned for them, including a concert at the O2 Arena in London. By the way, fans who buy the album in the official store of the Typhoons group’s website will have access to the pre-sale of concert tickets from May 5, all others will be available to buy tickets from May 7.

THROUGH. The first track of the album is the already mentioned “Trouble’s Coming”, which gives a good way to the next process of listening to this flashy album. If the best four (or almost all the best) of the 11 compositions have already been fed in the format of singles, then, of course, it is difficult, but possible – to put another equally good piece next to them – “Who Needs Friends”, “Mad Visions”. But the best is Limbo.

PRICE. And “How Did We Get So Dark?” left with his mouth open, then the new album can only be given polite applause. I wonder if it hasn’t occurred to Royal Blood to analyze the reasons for Boilermaker’s popularity, for example? It could also come to the conclusion that this is exactly what fans want to hear the sound of a vigorous rock duo, and not something from the series “We really like” Daft Punk “.
