Petr, a 50-year-old divorcee and pool manager, devoted his entire life to raising three daughters. He gave up his dream of becoming a professional swimmer because of them, but at fifty he finally decided to start living again and even find love.
That’s the annotation of the series, which premiered on Nova TV screens on Saturday evening. The pair Petr Zahrádka and Tomáš Pavlíček took care of the direction. The main role was given to Martin Pechlát.
Štěpánka Fingerhutová, Petra Hřebíčková, Jan Vlasák, Bořek Slezáček, Kryštof Bartoš, Marek Lambora, Jitka Schneiderová, Veronika Divišová or Agáta Kryštůfková perform in other roles.
The screenplay adaptation is signed by Marek Matoušek and Benjamin Tuček. In the past, he worked at the Office of Blaník or Masters.
“I lived for my daughters for twenty years, but now it’s my turn. I’m still young, or at least not quite old. I have a car, a job, a shack, but I could use someone to share it with. Maybe I’m naive, but I’m still looking for the right one. And if not true love, then at least big, romantic love. Or if not that love, then at least some normal woman. After all, I don’t want that much, do I?” This direct quote would characterize the approach to the life of our protagonist.

A generational approach
Of course, it won’t be that easy.
Many readers may not know this, but Pechlát is above all a great theater actor. Experts marveled at his Astrov from Chekhov’s Uncle Váni and later at The Burner, where he followed in the footsteps of Rudolf Hrušínský, i.e. Karel Kopfrkingl. Unfortunately, Masa associates him exclusively with the diver in Tour Participants. “Passionate perhaps, but certainly not a diver…”
Pechlát is also the recipient of the Alfréd Radok Award in the category of best male performance of the year. He also has Thalia. Petra Hřebíčková was similarly crowned. Their performance in the first episode was great. They gave the series a twist and the much-awaited comedy. Although it concerned the many-times inflected relationship between a man and a woman, the scenes did not slip into cliché at all, and the laughter must have been unplayed in households. The younger generation of protagonists performed noticeably weaker.
She snuggled up to the standards of the time. Phones, social networks, shaky relationships, empty conversations. The screenwriters clearly pushed for these contrasts. Where two were having fun, others were groping. It was certainly not harmful, because the contrasts showed the times we live in.

Everyone will find their own way
The series otherwise had a very decent approach to generalizing criticism. Above all, the mentioned scenes took care of this. There was no need to explain anything, as often happens.
Jan Vlasák played a very nice character.
The best, however, were carved by Petra Hřebíčková and Martin Pechlát. The final third of the opening episode belonged to them. It was clear that they have known each other for a long time and that they understand each other even outside the square. It helped the series a lot.
The only thing missing was the promised drama. It took place very shallowly at the breakup of two people, but it was heading towards it from the first moments: a broken washing machine, a made-up bed, a mess after a meal, playing games.
Nova promised a bang and she certainly wasn’t lying.
Dad in trouble is a quality opus mainly thanks to the main character.
