Review of the NVIDIA RTX 4060 Ti – Is the 16GB Version Worth It?

Which is quite understandable. A hundred bucks more than the 8GB model and nothing else. But the green team apparently doesn’t care anyway, they just have a 16 GB card and a sleight of hand.

Recently, it has been discussed quite often (on forums, on hardware YT channels, etc.) that 8 GB of memory is long gone and the minimum for the middle class is 12 GB. Nevertheless, the new RTX 4060 (Ti) and Radeon RX 7600 graphics still carry the sweaty 8 GB. And because people were clamoring, NVIDIA also prepared a 16 GB version of the RTX 4060 Ti to keep it quiet. But apart from the double memory, somehow nothing has changed at all. Except for the price, that is.

The configuration of the card (CUDA cores, bus, etc.) is still the same, so it is essentially an RTX 4050 Ti. This means that although the memory is 16 GB, the 128-bit bus and PCIe Gen4 8x still prevent efficient use. Of course, there will be games where the VRAM size will significantly increase the minimum frames, but overall the performance will still be at the level of the previous RTX 3060 Ti, which is indeed progress.

And given that this card is pretty much doomed to grim reviews and editor bashing, NV didn’t even bother sending out samples for testing. The very poor sales of 8 GB cards and the overall very lukewarm acceptance of the 4060 series are probably to blame for this. Another reason may be that the gaming market is currently secondary for NVIDIA and the company is more focused on professional cards and the use of AI. But what about us, the players? Well, we have to wait for the 4060 TI 16GB tests and then we’ll see.
