Taqueria Empellón has been on the list of places I wanted to go for a while now. I was able to do it and I was not disappointed. On a Saturday night if you pass by there it will be almost impossible to get in because it turns into a bar full of twenty-somethings.
However, on a weekend afternoon you can find a seat and enjoy a margarita of your choice. You can assure that the options are many.
The menu is small, with appetizers including loaded nachos, chalupas, corn dogs, breakfast burritos, Dominican burgers, cheese dip and more. But the main star of this place are the tacos.
There is a small variety including: cheeseburger tacos, Al Pastor (hence the name of the place), chicken, vegetables and the chef’s special.
Drink specials and happy hours
On Fridays and Saturdays after 10 pm, you can get these tacos for $3 each. In terms of drinks, there are happy hours Monday through Friday from 4 pm to 7 pm where you can order margaritas for $9, tequila shots for $6, and tacos for $4.
There are a variety of margaritas available, including the spicy cucumber one, so why not? That includes pineapple, serrano and cilantro, the blood margarita and the augmented one.
If you are looking for a different type of cocktail, there is the paloma, a traditional Mexican drink, a frozen piña colada and much more.
If you really want to take a risk, try the scorpion bowl that has reposado, mezcal, pineapple and citrus.
