In the Russian media this week, referring to “sources”, one could come across a waiting forecast that on August 18, the day when the opponents of vaccination gathered in Old Riga, a “maidan” would take place, thus a popular uprising against power. Repeating the “Baltic Way” of August 23, 1989, only with the opposite effect.

As a blogger told the Federalnoje agenstvo novostei: “If the new protests are successfully implemented, the consequences for the Baltic states’ relations with Russia and Belarus could be much more positive. All that remains is to wish the neighbors success in implementing their ambitious plans. “

Guesses about the ultimate goal of this campaign have been shared – some write that it is a protest against “Europe”, others that it is against “fascism”.

However, the central event around which Russian and Belarusian propaganda has been turning in the Baltics in recent weeks is the migrant crisis on the border.

They are to blame

The principles of propaganda can be summarized as follows: the flow of migrants to Lithuania and Latvia is continuous, increasing day by day, “local regimes” cannot cope with it due to their comprehensive inability, but the European Union (EU) practically does not help.

For example, the headline of Baltnews: “You cope on your own. Has Europe left the Baltic States alone with migrants? ”

It should be mentioned here that a week ago, the European Commission decided to allocate 37 million euros to Lithuania to solve the migration crisis.

It is money for reception and detention facilities for migrants, asylum procedures, accommodation for migrants and the guarantee of decent living conditions.

An agreement has also been reached on the future financing of border surveillance systems, and assistance has also been promised to Latvia and Poland.

Usually everything is played out as if the Westerners themselves, including the Baltics, were to blame for everything.

And they are “inhuman” Lithuanian and Latvian border guards who do not allow migrants and “force” them to Belarus.

Neither Russian nor Belarusian propaganda ever explains how migrants find themselves in Belarus, which helps them navigate the situation, reach the EU border and what the role of Belarusian border guards is.

If this detail is touched at all, then, at most, it is claimed that the migrants are almost “tourists” who have traveled to Belarus in the past, but then the Belarusian border guards did not allow them further to Europe.

But when the West, and especially Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, started a “hostile policy” against Minsk, Alexander Lukashenko ordered them not to be detained. So – “to blame themselves”. “Lithuania is trapping itself in a migration trap,” explains Baltnews.

Europe is not helping

Latvian border guards are beating migrants and demanding that the UN stop it, according to the Ruskaja Planeta portal.

The Latvian government’s operative decision of 10 August to declare a state of emergency in Ludza, Krāslava, Augšdaugava districts, as well as in the city of Daugavpils until November 10 caused the propaganda channels to falter. The decision was unanimously approved by the Saeima.

This allows border guards to return the persons concerned by physical force and special means in the event of an illegal border crossing, as well as the authorities not to accept applications from persons who have entered illegally for refugee or alternative status.

Relevant websites immediately published information about the “concerns” expressed by certain public organizations and institutions, including the “S Harmonas” faction of the Saeima.

The most authoritative in this line were Elizabeth Haslund’s “concerns” from the UN High Commissioner for Refugees in Northern Europe and the Baltics. This has made it possible to treat everything as if the international community was outraged by the decision of the Latvian government.

Quoting the Russian-language website “Russkaya Planet” for Russian-speaking audiences around the world: “The UN has appealed to Latvia to stop beating migrants and come to mind.”

There are very common stories of “Lithuanian fascists” who beat migrants who crossed the border without providing medical assistance or, according to Russia’s RIA Novosti, “leave pregnant migrants unconscious on the border line”.

It should be noted that in the case of Lithuania, the supply of cameras with the border has proved to be important, which, among other things, makes it possible to refute such staging.

It should be reminded that Jānis Sārts, Director of the NATO Center for Strategic Communication Excellence, said that no European government or NATO leadership would blame Latvia or Lithuania for protecting their borders from illegal migration.

It is not about people fleeing war or repression, that is, refugees, but about illegal migrants looking for better life on the detours, but who have become hostages and a hybrid weapon in the hands of Lukashenko and his allies.

Sputnik says: “The EU is not participating in the construction of an iron and barbed wire fence on the border with Belarus. In Brussels, it is obviously considered advantageous for refugees to stay in Eastern Europe and not rush to Western Europe. “

Brussels is not only not helping with money, but also not sending its “armed forces” (!) To cover the border.

The understanding of what EU assistance should look like is in line with the statement in the Russian media about the “externally leading” of the Baltic states.

Another characteristic feature is to first make a statement and then, accepting the invention as an objective fact, to build one’s theories on it. Alexei Dzermant, a “Belarusian political scientist, political observer, publicist and philosopher”, stands out in this field.

The full explanation of his fantasies in the environment of Russian and Belarusian propaganda is growing regularly. For example, in declaring that the EU is not “helping” the Baltics, this person, Sputnik, wonders: [Brisele] them [Baltijas valstis] is considered a U.S. Trojan horse. Brussels’ relations with the Baltic States are unique. “

Namely, by failing to help in the refugee crisis, Brussels is “punishing” the Baltics for making excessive friendships with Washington. Undoubtedly, the only way out for the Baltics is to “come to mind”: “If Riga and Vilnius do not stop supporting the Belarusian opposition and stop interfering in the neighbor’s internal affairs, then they will have to deal with the influx of illegal migrants themselves.”

The migrants then continue to flow through Belarus for another five, ten years.

Russia – the only hope

The use of Afghan drama is similar. The yeasts, the Americans, when leaving Afghanistan, “left”, “handed over” the allies and the same will happen to the Baltic and Eastern European countries.

Francis Klincevich, a spokesman for the Defense and Security Committee of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, predicted in the Russian media: “Events in Syria, Afghanistan and Ukraine have shown that in critical situations, American help cannot be counted on. The territories of Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania are the next objects that the United States will use in similar cases. “

But only Russia can save Europe from a new refugee crisis.

“The countries on the EU’s eastern border are now (after the Taliban came to power. – Ed.) A migration crisis of such magnitude that Lukashenko’s mischief with migrants in Lithuania will seem like a fluke. What can prevent the worst-case scenario for Europe at the moment?

All this that Poland and the Baltic States have been demonizing for decades in the eyes of Europeans and themselves. Russia, Organization of the Collective Security Agreement (includes Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan. – Ed.), Eurasian integration, ”instructed Rubaltic.ru.
