The fate of acceptance of new students (PPDB) the zoning system which is causing polemic in society is currently under consideration by President Joko Widodo (Jokowi). Plus and minus policies PPDB the zoning system will be reviewed by Jokowi.
PPDB the zoning system has become a polemic lately after complaints were submitted by a number of parties in the regions. The Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture (Menko PMK) Muhadjir Effendy then responded to the complaint.
He admitted that he had pocketed data related to the polemic on the PPDB case on the zoning route. Muhadjir said that the PPDB case should have been resolved at the regional level.
“If we look at the level of cases, it’s still sporadic. I already have data, there aren’t that many cases, it’s just that there are cases spread in almost all regions, and that should be resolved in each region, no need to go to the central level. But later we will evaluate it at the very end,” Muhadjir told reporters at the Presidential Palace Complex, Central Jakarta, Tuesday (18/7/2023).
Muhadjir asked local governments to be more careful in planning PPDB. In fact, according to Muhadjir, planning can already be done a year in advance.
“The point is we ask the local government to be more careful in planning the PPDB, don’t be too tight on time for acceptance because actually the PPDB can already be designed a year in advance, right,” said Muhadjir.
Muhadjir gave an example of the students who accepted junior high school students. He explained that the planning process could be carried out since the child was still in 6th grade.
“Once the children enter grade 6, next year they will be junior high school students, at that time it should have been coordinated between school principals, each service head. So that even next year the child will already know which school he should go to next year. PPDB,” said Muhadjir.
Jokowi Asks for Field Problems to Be Solved
After that, Jokowi delivered a statement regarding the zoning PPDB polemic. Jokowi encouraged the problems that occurred in all regions to be resolved properly.
“There are always field problems in all cities, regencies and provinces, but the most important thing is to be properly resolved in the field,” Jokowi said in a written statement from the Press, Media and Information Bureau of the Presidential Secretariat, Thursday (20/7/ 2023).
Jokowi stressed the importance of prioritizing the interests of Indonesian children to be able to study at school. According to Jokowi, the central and regional governments must ensure that children get this opportunity.
“Our children must be given the widest possible opportunity to have a good and high education,” said Jokowi.
