Review of Incidents in Polling Stations in Castilla y León during Elections for Community Representatives

The Government delegate in Castilla y León, Virginia Barcones, has reviewed all the incidents that occurred in the polling stations of the nine provinces, incidents commented on electronically by the nine sub-delegates. The 4,527 tables have been set up normally. 2,083,000 people will elect the representatives of the community in the Cortes Generales, of which 161,000 reside abroad. The votes of the latter will be known between July 28 and 31. Castilian and Leonese voters elect 31 deputies, distributed by population, and 36 senators, always four per province.

Among the few noteworthy incidents, Barcones points out that at 9:25 a.m., all the tables were already set up because there have been some small usual delays in this type of process with so many people involved.

In La Alberca (Salamanca) the second titular member was missing, and has been replaced by the substitute of the first member. When they have realized, they have had to call the substitute of the second vowel. It has been constituted at 9.15 and will close at 20.15 as decided by the Electoral Board.

In Santa Marta de Tormes (Salamanca), the president has presented herself with gastroenteritis and has asked to leave. Her substitutes have come at 8:00 but with symptoms of drunkenness because the town is at parties, so the president has been warning of this disease.

In Arenas de San Pedro (Ávila) something similar has happened. A member has come after “having had a very long night”, so the second person who has come to vote has had to stay at the table since the first was over the age necessary to be at a table.

In La Ercina (León), a substitute has offered to look for the owner at home because the sheets had “stuck him”, something that has happened in other small municipalities where it is easier to know and locate the holders of the tables.

In Vega de Valcarce (León), Aranda de Duero (Burgos), Segovia, and two schools in Valladolid, graffiti has appeared, so the electoral boards have decided to erase it quickly.

In Valladolid, a vehicle with graffiti alluding to the elections had been parked, and the owner, who had nothing to do with the graffiti, had to remove said vehicle when informed by the National Police.

The justice of the peace of Cacabelos (León) has recently resigned and, as there is still no replacement, it will be the Civil Guard who will guard the ballots until they are collected by the justice of the peace of Villafranca del Bierzo when he goes to deposit them at the Government Sub-delegation.

As generic anecdotes, a person in Burgos has asked if he could vote for another with a power of attorney, something that is not possible. There have also been some small mobile coverage problems in the province of Palencia, something that has been solved before the time required for the constitution of the polling stations.

In La Mudarra, in Valladolid, it has been decided to change the location of the polling station at the last minute due to health problems from what was initially planned. In the city of Soria, at the Infantes de Lara school, the entrance access had to be changed due to works, but it is correctly signposted.
