REVIEW: Justin Bieber set himself up. A woman helped him

The singer slowed down on him. Although the sound component still consists mainly of synthetic sounds, he did not throw a lot of them over himself, but selected the sixteen songs that carry them but do not control them. He also added acoustic sounds, but his singing is in the foreground. On previous records, he was rather part of the “mass”. In addition, Bieber proves that he is at least a decent player in this role.

As is usual in today’s world pop, a number of producers and here also authors participated in the work of Justice. The result is coherent, the individual productions are not very different and the authors probably had assignments regarding the motivations to write the record.

It was in this that Bieber moved very significantly. The Floutkov years, when he performed at parties and behaved so badly that even the tabloid media didn’t like him for it, are probably over. Therefore, this time he undertook topics that are purely contemporary and correspond to the pandemic period in which the record was created.

He sings about the healing of the planet, the healing of humanity, about the improvement of interpersonal relationships, about the fact that one should communicate better with oneself. He also sings about love for his wife. His tone is simply positive, although it should be noted that he did not discover America in terms of themes, but rather repeats the good and supportive that has appeared in pop many times in the past. Of course, the question also arises as to the extent to which it is authentic.

The reasons for choosing such a tone are clear. Behind them is his wife, Hailey Baldwin, who is said to have made him a different man. He revealed this in an interview with Sirius XM.

“I changed my priorities, now my family comes first. I have never had a cohesive family life. I grew up a little here, a little there. Hailey convinced me that I had someone I loved and trusted. Thanks to that, the album is as it is, “Bieber explained.

He added that he found stability in his marriage and his wife taught him to set limits for contact with other people. He realized that his “no” was as strong as his “yes”.

“I did not know what love was. I didn’t know who I was. I sang about what I thought. But as I grew up, love took on new shapes and meanings for me, “said the singer.

The problem with the album is that it is too monotonous and there are no strong ones between the songs. The monotony is due to the fact that the tempos of the songs are basically very close, and as the collection nears the end, boredom begins to grind its teeth.

The power of pop songs is measured by how long they are able to survive on the air and how emotional they are. Bieber is quite good at the second item, but he has set more serious topics in the content of the songs. But the first one will not be fulfilled, because there are no sticky melodies behind the themes, ones that easily get stuck in the head.

The performances of the guests are not a great benefit either. The songs usually only adorn, their presence is seldom exciting. In particular, the stellar Khalid or Chance The Rapper were supposed to bring more than just their presence to the songs. All they need is a strong choir of vocalists, which emerges here and there.

Still, it’s the best album Justin Bieber has ever released to the world.
