The latest addition to the Chinese manufacturer’s smartphone portfolio from the so-called number series, the Honor 90 model, impressed us in a detailed review with its appearance, but also with its top-notch display rounded on all sides. It is also one of the few (affordable) smartphones with a 200Mpx camera, which manages to combine up to 16 pixels into a single “superpixel” of higher quality.
Intuitive photo application with many options
When choosing a new smartphone or photomobile, it is advisable to think not only about the hardware equipment, i.e. the sensors themselves, but also about the accompanying software, which includes photo applications. In the case of the Honor 90, you can rely on a user-friendly and very clear interface, where the individual modes are arranged in a horizontal carousel. Activating modes such as “Super macro” or “Solo cropping”, which are located under the “Next” tab, is therefore a matter of time.
In the already mentioned “Other” section, the user also has the option to take a panorama photo, use time-lapse mode or Pro mode, where you can capture images in JPG and RAW and set ISO values, exposure, white balance and more. In this section there is also “High resolution”, which activates shooting in the native resolution of 200 Mpx.
We take photos in the dark
The manufacturer used a total of four sensors in the Honor 90. In addition to the primary 200Mpx, there is a 12Mpx ultra-wide-angle lens with automatic focus (which can also be used as a macro sensor) and a 2Mpx bokeh sensor. On the front, there is a 50Mpx selfie camera, which is ultra-wide-angle with a range of 100 degrees. After all, we also praised it in the review, for example for the ability to record in 4K, which is not standard even for some regular flagship models that are many times more expensive.

Thanks to its high resolution (the physical size of the sensor is 1/1.4″), the main sensor has the ability to capture better night images, although a steady hand is needed, as it does not have optical stabilization. Below you can see several examples of images taken in poor lighting.
