Despite all investigations and hostility, even hardened and experienced officers should not be able to resist shaking their heads or smiling on some missions. Last year there were again numerous unusual cases in Hessen*. We look at the eight strangest police reports from 2021.
1. Frankfurt Airport: Police catch couples “in flagrante” while making love
On a seating group in the area of the long-distance train station at the airport in Frankfurt* In April 2021, a couple enjoyed making love until the police came. A 53-year-old man and a 30-year-old woman, despite the initial freedom of movement, were visibly embarrassed when they were caught by the patrol practically “in flagrante”.
Their lack of caution broke them in a lot more than a house ban German Railways (DB)* and a criminal complaint for causing public nuisance. In the corona pandemic, special safety precautions and strict rules always apply, especially in the area of local public transport. Deep kissing is therefore rather taboo at a train station. 2. Well dressed for the attack in Fulda: Bank robbers with a red tie attract attention
Bank robbers with balaclavas or carnival masks are known from television. A somewhat different approach was shown by a robber with a penchant for rather unusual utensils and a conspicuous clothing style. With a green bag in hand and one With a red tie around his neck, the bank robber tried to clear out a branch of a bank in Fulda in May*. The chic robber then threatened an employee with a weapon and wanted a large sum of cash from her – but to no avail. The bank employee refused him the requested money and the robber had to flee without prey.
3. Bold vegetable thieves steal 300 kilos of asparagus: video surveillance in the field?
Organizing the harvest has really not been easy for the farmers in the corona pandemic in the past two asparagus seasons. But since May 2021 they also have to fear vegetable thieves in Hesse. On an asparagus field in Ginsheim-Gustavburg in southern Hesse (Groß-Gerau district) In a night-and-fog operation, thieves harvested around 300 kilos of asparagus over a length of several kilometers*.
They were obviously professionals at picking asparagus, as the police reported at the time. The brazen thieves not only stabbed the vegetables correctly, but also closed the holes in the mounds of earth. Kai Reinheimer, the owner of the vegetable farm in question, added to the Frankfurter Neue Presse (FNP): “I’m sure that there were probably six to eight people. Only with so many helpers – and if they are practiced – can you prick 300 kilograms of asparagus in two hours. ”The delicious stolen goods had a market value of around 3000 euros.

The full extent of the robbery would only be revealed in the coming year, Reinheimer told the FNP. Because if the mother plants were destroyed in the action, no more vegetables will grow in the field. The vegetable farmer hopes for the support of passers-by and strollers in the future – that they will report if they see something suspicious. But he also revealed that he is considering video surveillance on the cultivation areas. Then the thieves should no longer get away unseen.
4. Fun tour to the playground: Boy (9) steals car keys and has an accident
Two nine and five-year-old brothers from Frankfurt were forced to go to a nearby playground at the end of July. Therefore the children grabbed their father’s car keys without further ado, got into the Audi A3 and drove off*. However, the two boys did not get to the playground. Your trip, which cost several thousand euros, ended in an accident with a parked car after just 50 meters. Fortunately, the children got away with the shock again and were not injured in the accident at the Gallus in Frankfurt. The father was able to pick up the runaways at the scene of the accident after their jaunt.
5. Unusual find in the luggage: the defusing team at Frankfurt Airport alerted
An apparently unusual penchant for an American’s decorations sparked in the summer on airport Frankfurt* a larger police operation. Not only was a federal police defusing team alerted, an aircraft also had to stay on the ground for a while.
During the check in baggage handling at the beginning of August, an employee believed to have discovered a hand grenade in a suitcase. The defusing team rushed up immediately and the entire area was cordoned off. However, the specialists were able to give the all-clear very quickly. The reason for the alarm was a hand grenade in an artfully crafted sculpture.
The supposed hand grenade was incorporated into a work of art and completely harmless.

Due to the man’s emergency call, the officials from Hanau initially feared a body would be found, but were able to quickly give the all-clear on site.
There wasn’t a child’s corpse in the forest, but an illegally dumped sex doll. Subsequently, it was determined not only because of the illegal garbage disposal, but also because of the “placing on the market of sex dolls with a childlike appearance”. The penal code provides for a five-year prison sentence or a fine.
7. Man wants to enroll his grandson in the Main-Kinzig district – and ends up on the Baltic Sea
His iron confidence in his navigation device brought a 92-year-old man to a huge odyssey through half of the republic * at the end of August. The man wanted to drive from Bad Hersfeld in the northeast of Hesse to Nidderau in the Main-Kinzig district to enroll his granddaughter. Obviously, he is strictly listening to the instructions of the computer voice from the navigation system.
When the 92-year-old did not show up when the grandson started school, the son finally reported him missing around 5 p.m. At around 11.30 a.m., the man had written a message that he was on his way. The officers of the motorway police then searched the rest areas and parking spaces on the way. Another police patrol drove to the man’s home in Bad Hersfeld, where neighbors confirmed that he had actually left that morning. A request from the emergency services in the area was also unsuccessful. The 92-year-old and his Mercedes were lost for the time being.
Only the location of the cell phone brought clarity to the case. The 92-year-old landed in Rostock, around 540 kilometers away, where he was asking a pension landlady for help with a flat tire. Otherwise he was fine. The next morning the son set out to pick up his father in Rostock.
8. Fulda: the truck driver completely disengages on the A7 – and exposes his backside
Aggression in traffic is really nothing new. A truck driver on the A7 near Fulda had to answer for half a dozen violations. the Man completely freaked out and brought all traffic on the highway to a standstill*. First he got a colleague and cut it, drove on in a serpentine way and then parked across all lanes.
But nobody had expected what followed: The 39-year-old driver got out of his truck and insulted the driver behind him. In doing so, he also exposed his bottom. Then he got back in the truck, continued his drive north, and tried again to push a truck away. The 48-year-old driver of the truck was only able to avoid the accident by turning right into a parking lot. The rioter followed him and slowed the 48-year-old again. He then got out of his truck and hit the driver’s door of the other towing vehicle several times with his head. The escape of the aggressive trucker finally stops a patrol.
