Will Smith flew to India for “spiritual purposes.” He is trying to survive the drama with the slap of the Oscars, reports “Daiy Mirror”.
The 53-year-old actor stunned the world when he stormed the stage during the live awards ceremony and attacked Chris Rock after the comedian joked with Will’s wife, Jada Pinkett Smith.
That night, Smith received an Oscar for his role in The Williams Method. He is now trying to calm down after the incident that barred him from attending the Oscars for 10 years.
Will traveled halfway around the world to escape the spotlight and landed in India to embark on a spiritual journey that will focus on practicing yoga and meditation, a source told People magazine.
He arrived at a private airport in Mumbai, where he was greeted by paparazzi and later posed for photos with fans.
He is said to want to take time to reflect calmly on the shocking incident, which left the audience of stars in the hall and millions of spectators at home – startled.
The “Men in Black” star apologized for his behavior in an emotional statement and promised to change.
Will said he felt obligated to protect his wife, Jada, who suffers from alopecia when Chris joked about her hair loss, but acknowledged that his actions were “shocking, painful and unforgivable.”
“Change takes time, and I am committed to doing the job to ensure that I never again allow anger to overwhelm reason,” he said.
His wife and two children, Willow and Jaden, will discuss the Oscars slap on her online show Red Table Talk.
“The Smith family is focusing on deep healing. Some of the discoveries surrounding our healing will be shared when the time comes,” they said in a statement.
