Revenge: they killed a young man who had shot another and was released on bail in New York

Shawn Pressley, a 28-year-old ex-convict, died after being shot in the head on a Bronx street while out on bail for shooting a young man on the same block exactly a month ago.

The New York police suspect that the two cases are linked and that they are a revenge. Pressley was sitting on a blue electric scooter near Union Ave. and Home St. in the Morrisania neighborhood when a gunman approached and shot him around 9:15 p.m. Monday.

Officers patrolling the area, just steps from the Bronx Career and College Preparatory High School, discovered Pressley fatally wounded. He was rushed to Lincoln Hospital, but they couldn’t save him.

Pressley he lived with his sister around the corner from where he was shotdetailed Daily News. 250 feet away, on June 26, he allegedly shot a 22-year-old man in the abdomen and groin on Home St.

That victim was uncooperative with police, but detectives linked Pressley to the shooting and charged him on July 5, assassination attempt. At his arraignment, a prosecutor asked that Pressley be remanded in custody. But a judge set bail at $5,000 and he was released after posting it.

Detectives are now trying to determine if Pressley was killed in retaliation for the June shooting. In 2016 he was also charged with attempted murder, assault and weapons possession.. Records show that he met two years in a state prison and was paroled in January 2021.

Before that, he had been paroled in June 2014 after serving time for attempted assault, according to public records.
