A horrific revenge crime occurred this evening in the Baalbek-Hermel area. The body of citizen Muhammad al-Tarshishi (in his fourth decade) with his hand cut off was placed on the grave of the murdered Ibrahim Melhem Farhat inside the Beit Shama cemetery, west of Baalbek.
The aforementioned crime of revenge was accompanied by signs of joy and celebration, in addition to members of the Farhat family declaring on social media sites their revenge for the killing of their son Ibrahim and revenge on the hand that killed him.
It is noteworthy that Ibrahim was killed a year and a half ago by the murdered Tarshishi following an individual dispute over “Van.”
Many revenge crimes are still at the forefront of the security scene under the title of “taking revenge,” the latest of which was “at dawn on February 26, when the body of the famous Syrian Muhammad al-Hajj was found and placed on the grave of the young man H.Z. in the town of Nabi Rashadeh – west of Baalbek.”
It is worth mentioning that Lebanese law does not explicitly stipulate specific punishments for acts of revenge, and does not constitute a deterrent to a phenomenon that applies to the tribes and the community of Baalbek, knowing that rational people among the tribes reject the phenomenon of revenge, especially since this phenomenon has affected members of the security forces because of their performance of their duties and the application of… the law.
