RevelationThe crème de la crème of bars
A new ranking has designated the 50 best bars in the world. Enough to find inspiration for an upcoming city trip, including an aperitif.
Tasting a good glass of red wine, sipping a gin and tonic or a non-alcoholic Negroni in a good bar is a tenfold pleasure. Hence the importance of the ranking The 50 best bars in the worldpublished annually since 2009.
For the first time, the bar that has achieved the feat of rising to the top is not in London or New York, but in Barcelona. Its name: Paradise.
1st: Paradise, in Barcelona
In the busy city of Barcelona, El Born is THE trendy neighborhood, where bars follow one another. One of these, however, stands out: Paradise. Finished in third position last year, he is now at the top of the standings. The unique thing about Paradiso is that it is only accessible through a large refrigerator door from a nearby pastrami shop, in the style of a Mediterranean-style speakeasy.
Paradiso is constantly developing new cocktails. On the menu we find in particular the spectacular Drink On Fire, a milk punch cocktail, served with a smoke effect, or the Fleming, inspired by the discovery of penicillin.
2nd: The Tayēr + Elementary, in London
London’s Tayēr + Elementary opened in 2019. Its owners, Monica Berg and Alex Kratena, wanted a two-part concept. Elementary, with its industrial décor, invites you for a drink after work, while the Tayēr, located behind a partition, is a creative place where bartenders create new taste and cocktail experiences using modern techniques.
From draft beer and house wine to seasonal cocktails and their famous One Sip Martini, one thing is certain: you won’t die of thirst. It is also possible to buy on the spot or order online the creations of the house in the bottle of Tayēr.
3rd: Sips, in Barcelona
Let’s go back to Barcelona, where Sips is located, who occupies the third place on the podium. During the day, the soft green and pink décor gives the environment a pleasant atmosphere, but as soon as night falls, the place transforms into a place of creations where internationally renowned mixologists, Simone Caporale and Marc Alvarez.
The great revisited classics are embellished, among other things, with sweet creations, paté and foie gras semifreddo. Something to quench your thirst and satisfy your hunger.
4e: Licorería Limantour, Mexico
Not only did Licorería Limantour manage to push itself to fourth in the rankings this year, it was also named the best bar in North America for the second time in a row.
The program includes elegant cocktails, both in terms of taste and presentation. If you’re passing through Mexico City and making a stop at Licorería Limantour one day, you shouldn’t miss the iconic Margarita al Pastor.
5e: Little red door, in Paris
Located in the Marais district of Paris, the pleasant Little Red Door is constantly renewing its drink menu and concept. This is probably why the establishment has been appearing on the top bar chart for ten years almost every year.
The latest concept called “Farm-to-Glass” introduces customers to seasonal ingredients and promotes more conscious consumption. In addition to the fifth position in the ranking, this year the Little Red Door in Paris also received the sustainability award.
