Revealed! This is the reason why Premium and Pertalite want to be removed

Jakarta

The plan to phase out Premium fuel (BBM) type (RON 88) next year is becoming more and more real. After Premium, Pertalite (RON 90) type of fuel will also be removed in the future. What is the reason for Premium and Pertalite wants to be deleted?

ESDM Minister Arifin Tasrif said the policy was to improve fuel quality and reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Indonesia is now still one of the four countries in the world that still use Premium.

“In the future, we really have to move towards cleaner energy and we are left behind with Vietnam. We are still (standard) at Euro 2, Vietnam is already at Euro 4 and will enter Euro 5. Also (compared to) our neighboring Asean countries, we are lagging behind. , “explained Arifin some time ago, quoted on Saturday (12/25/2021).

In line with Arifin, Director of Downstream Oil and Gas Business Development Soerjaningsih said the first stage of Premium will be replaced by Pertalite because Indonesia is starting to enter a transition period in which RON 90 fuel will become an intermediate fuel towards environmentally friendly fuel.

“We are entering a transition period where Premium (RON 88) will be replaced with Pertalite (RON 90), before finally we will use environmentally friendly fuels,” he said.

Soerja explained that currently there are only 7 countries that still use Premium RON 88. The volume used is also very small. Public awareness of using fuel with better quality is one of the causes.

He explained further that the government was compiling a roadmap (roadmap) Environmentally friendly fuel, where later Pertalite will also be replaced with better quality fuel.

“With roadmap In this case, there is a timetable in which later we will use environmentally friendly fuel. There was a time when Pertalite had to dry, should shifting from Pertalite to Pertamax,” he said.

Change from Premium to Pertalite it is estimated that it will be able to reduce CO2 emission levels by 14%, henceforth the change to Pertamax will reduce CO2 emissions by 27%.
