Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – Online motorcycle taxi (ojol) drivers are reluctant to work on Eid this year. According to the Chairman of the Indonesian National Presidium for the Combined Two-Wheeled Action (Guard) Igun Wicaksono, this was caused by the disappearance of bonuses for motorcycle taxi drivers.
Igun said drivers prefer to spend time with their families on Eid because ojol companies do not provide incentives to their partners. Therefore, it is difficult for prospective passengers to get service since last Thursday, May 13.
“So since the bonuses have been reduced, we have lowered ojol friends to look for orders. Moreover, it is a holiday, so more people choose to be with their families than interesting,” he told CNNIndonesia.com by telephone on Friday, May 14.
According to Igun, many drivers are no longer as excited as they used to be due to the bonus cuts given by the Ojol application company. In fact, Igun stated that driver loyalty has decreased because they are starting to have trouble getting more income, even though they are still chasing bonuses.
“This means that more effort is needed to get a bonus, while on holidays, there are not too many orders. So, there are not many interesting people who cannot get a bonus,” Igun explained.
Igun appealed to ojol application companies to pay attention to the welfare of their partners. He explained, in the end, customers will also be affected by insufficient service.
But Igun predicts that normality will continue on Monday, 17 May.
On the other hand, Gojek Senior Vice President Corporate Affairs Rubi Purnomo said that his party is committed to bringing together customers and partners to present solutions. Rubi said he would meet on national holidays and religious holidays.
Rubi said, Gojek had provided a special Hari Raya program to ensure the availability of customer service on Eid Al-Fitr. Rubi explained that the special program was a special income offer for partners who worked that day. This program is declared to continue starting last May 11.
“Gojek also has a special program for driver partners, namely the Swadaya program which is intended to provide opportunities for driver partners to increase income and reduce daily operating costs through various initiatives and programs that can be enjoyed by driver partners and their families,” he explained.
